Self Mastery

What Are You Saying

I was sharing with my girlfriend, the observation that words have lost their meaning.  By that I mean that they have lost their power.  People are inundated with

Words to read on the internet, blogs, books, and magazines articles,
Talk from the news, friends, parents, radio, television, and their own chatter
Thoughts from the different voices in their head with conflicting points of view

Their mind is filled to the degree that it has become a world of white noise. The screen is so busy that very little of what people listen to or read changes their life.

When any real wisdom with the potential for life changing realizations gets through, they give it so little attention that it has no more impact than a quick blip on the corner of the screen.

She pointed out that it didn’t sound like words had lost their meaning or power. To her it sounded like people had lost their ability to listen.

I heard her.

i tried a small mental experiment during past October.

that was, to eliminate any(i m saying ANY, from blogs, newspapers, books) reading, TV, cinema, radio, CD music etc, going to concerts for 2 weeks.i called it “stop all outside input”

    2 remarks:
1)i m adicted to content/input.i couldnt stand for 2 weeks.I stopped the experiment the 10th day.
2)these 10 days were probably the most 10 concious days i ve ever lived.i used my free time(A LOT of free time) to record thoughts(MY thoughts) and communicating with family and friends more intentionally than usually.

Overall the quality of my life was improved highly.

My general idea after this is that:we re living in a civilitation were all the basic materialistic needs are easilly covered and we suffer from boredom(among others), from all this free time.
We “fight” our boredom with thoughts/sounds/images other people create, but this turns to a mechanical(another one) reaction which gradually turns us into zobies or consuming machines.
